info · ping

Two read-only commands for inspecting a server.

info — server & parameter details

mcpwn info <target> [--tool NAME] [--prompt NAME]

With no flags, info prints the server-info panel (transport, server name/version, protocol version, advertised capabilities, instructions). Add a flag to drill into one tool or prompt's parameter schema — name, type, required/optional, and description:

# Just the server info panel
mcpwn info http://host/mcp/

# One tool's parameters
mcpwn info http://host/mcp/ --tool lookup_user

# One prompt's arguments
mcpwn info http://host/mcp/ --prompt pentest_report

If the named tool/prompt does not exist, info exits non-zero with a clear error.

Option Meaning
--tool Show one tool's parameter schema.
--prompt Show one prompt's argument schema.

info vs enum

enum gives you the breadth — every tool/prompt/resource at a glance. info gives you the depth — the full schema for a single item before you call it.

ping — connectivity check

mcpwn ping <target>

Opens a connection, sends an MCP ping, and reports reachability plus the server-info panel. Useful as a fast “is it up and speaking MCP?” probe — including through a proxy:

mcpwn ping http://host/mcp/
mcpwn -x http://127.0.0.1:8080 ping https://target/mcp/
